Elizabeth Township Area EMS was formed in 1993 in order to assist the community in complying with the newly passed legislation requiring more proficient prehospital care.  The organization's "start-up" funds came in the form of a loan from Elizabeth Township.  Additionally, several of the local volunteer fire companies, who were departing their ambulance operations, donated vehicles and equipment.

We are completely self-sufficient.  All revenue to support the organization is derived from billing for services rendered.  Additionally, we solicit the community residents and businesses for support through an annual campaign.

In 1998, our organization was approached by officials of Elizabeth Borough to provide ambulance service to their community.  We accepted the invitation and have provided uninterrupted service since April 1998.

Also in 1998, our organization was once again asked to extend our boundaries for the purpose of providing advanced life support to assist Lincoln Borough VFC/EMS.

In 1999, our organziation was approached to provide service to Liberty Borough.  We graciously accepted this opportunity and have been providing uninterrupted emergency care to the community since April 1999.

In August 2004, after years of working in a building that could only house two of our units, we moved into our state-of-the-art facility located at 911 Swiss Way (Swiss Alpine Village).
